Music at First Presbyterian Church
There are three ways to be involved with music ministry at FPC: Choir, Praise Team and Special Music offerings. There are no auditions or prerequisites to join any of the music groups. If you enjoy performing music and would like to be more involved, we hope you will consider one or more of the options offered.
Choir meets on Wednesdays from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the FPC music room, and tends to sing more traditional choral music. This group is directed by Mary Greiner and sings one or two Sundays a month depending on the schedule. If you enjoy choral singing or would like to try it out, the choir is always looking for new members and all are welcome!
Praise Team meets on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the FPC music room and usually performs contemporary “praise and worship” style music. The group is directed by Katie Berte and leads worship two or three Sundays a month depending on the schedule. Praise Team is always looking for new singers and instrumentalists, particularly if you play guitar, bass, or drums, and (like choir) all are welcome!
Do you or does someone you know like to play an instrument or sing solos? If so, we are always looking for Special Music offerings to add to our worship services, particularly in the summer. This does not necessarily need to be “professional-level”! We often have students, visiting family of church members, and other community musicians share with us in worship. If you or someone you know might like to do this, please contact Katie Berte or our administrative assistant, Suzanne, and we’ll make sure to get it scheduled!
