Color Guard
Committee Contact: Dianne Heyn

The Color Guard are members of the church that help make the church a meaningful place to worship by using visual, auditory and/or sensorial presentations to bring glory to God in worship. They work behind the scenes with the pastor and Worship & Music Committee to carry out the theme for various church services. This includes making banners, changing liturgical colors, taking care of sanctuary plants and flower, among other things. Many talents are needed from working with one’s hands to creative thinking.

Lay Leaders
Contact: Suzanne Kabisch / Rev. Dan Jessop

Lay Leaders contribute to Sunday worship services by leading specific parts of the Liturgy and reading scripture. If you are interested in this ministry, you will be given all the guidelines and instruction you need, as well as the materials ahead of time so you feel comfortable and confident as you lead in the service.

Nursery Ministry
Contact: Suzanne Kabisch

Nursery attendants provide a safe, nurturing environment for our youngest members (ages infant to Preschool) during regular worship time. You would work on assigned Sundays downstairs in the Nursery.

Acolytes
Contact: Rev. Bethany Jessop

Acolytes are 3rd-8th grade children who process in during the opening hymn and light the candles on the table at the front of the sanctuary. They are also responsible for “carrying out” the light at the end of the service. This is a great way for young members of our church family to be involved with Sunday worship!

Greeters
Contact: Suzanne Kabisch

Greeters are often some of the first faces people see as they enter the sanctuary. These individuals are placed throughout the building to provide a friendly welcome to those coming to worship, give directions to various spaces if needed, and may also help distribute bulletins.

Prayer Ministry
Contact: Suzanne Kabisch

Our Prayer Ministry meets weekly on Thursday mornings at 10 am. This committed group of volunteers lifts up and prays for all the prayer requests shared in worship and through the online prayer chain & prayer boxes.

Mission Statement

Because there is noise everywhere in the new millennium, we at First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg deliver clarity through the Good News of Jesus Christ for believers and those still exploring the faith.

We focus on enhancing relationships with God through blended worship services, Christian education for all ages, a family oriented environment, and community outreach.

In the midst of the noise, come worship with us, grow in faith, and find a place to belong.
